| AJ with his youngest child. Still taken from the film. |
This film is a more conventional style of documentary. It's about about the life of a man who has seven kids and another on the way, at christmas time. Through the documentary we discover his struggles with being a father along with his own personal struggles and his childhood. The aim of this documentary is to educate viewers on their lifestyle and struggles, its set in a dreary council estate in Bristol. I do like this film because although what the parents do and what happens around them e.g the kids screaming, arguing and swearing and the mother threatening to use soap etc, you can't help but feel sorry for the dad, AJ and I think that's been cleverly manufactured that way and I think it has dealt with the subject manner in a clear and sensitive way. An element that I believe stood out to me was the use of music used in the film, because i think it aided in creating a sense of sympathy for the main focus, AJ. I also like the use of camera work at the end when they focussed on AJ's christmas present and inside was a bracelet with the word dad on it, it was a crucial part of the film because he tells of how he has different feelings between his biological kids and his step kids, but you can see its obviously a very important role to him.
